W. Hugh Harkey, Jr., the former director of the Museum of Art, Science and History in Florence, South Carolina, is the author of Tales from the Hornet's Nest, a collection of historical essays about Charlotte North Carolina; Greetings from Charlotte: A Pictorial Postcard History of Charlotte, North Carolina; and More Tales from the Hornet's Nest. He lives in Charlotte, where he teaches at Central Piedmont community College, serves as a consultant to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission, and operates Hornet's Nest Productions, which specializes in tours, lectures, art and publications on the history of the Carolinas.
