The above photographs were taken two days apart. At left, Midway Swash approaches the ocean in almost a straight line. At right, Midway Swash has swept in an arc to the south (left) of its previous location. Midway Swash is constantly and quickly shifting northward and southward along the beach because of the surf's alterations in the shape of the beach's slope. Midway Swash, which drains numerous inland surface ponds, enters the Atlantic Ocean between Damon's Restaurant (seen in the photograph) and the Springmaid Beach Resort, at the south end of Myrtle Beach.
A live view of this section of the beach can be seen via the webcam of the Crown Reef Resort, which is located just to the north of Damon's.
