Bib Sewing Instructions

Print this page, and then use a photocopier to enlarge the pattern to 17" x 27" (depending on the machine and paper, it may be necessary to print on several sheets of paper and tape together). When you achieve a printed pattern of the correct size, cut it out.

Use washable fabric in assorted colors and patterns. Place the cut-out bib pattern on material with right sides of fabric together and the one layer of batting on top of the fabric. Use a thin batting. Cut out bib and batting. Sew around bib a 1/4-inch seam leaving a 4-inch opening at the bottom of the bib. Clip inside curve of neck, turn bib right side out using opening at the bottom. Press bib after turning. Top stitch around entire bib with 1/4-inch seam. Lay flat and machine quilt in circles, squares, heart or desired pattern. Quilting should be in no more than 4-6 inch spaces in order for it to lay properly. Attach a 1-inch piece of Velcro to each neck tab on opposite sides for closure, sewing in place. Hand sew opening at bottom closed with needle and thread. DO NOT use ribbons or ties but use Velcro so that it can be removed quickly if needed. Bibs must be able to be washed and dried.
