Vice-President George H. W. Bush appeared before a large crowd at the armory in Danville, Virginia, on his 64th birthday, June 12, 1988. On August 18 he would accept the Republican Presidential nomination. At his Danville stop he was campaigning for Linda Arey, candidate for Congress from Virginia's 5th District.
