In the early 1970's Jack Miller's etchings were an important element, both in sales and atmosphere, of the French Quarter shop (“Mitchells,” 612 Royal Street) owned by my wife Patricia and me (see the article “Etchings and New Orleans”).
Then, in the 1980's, Jack generously advised me regarding etching techniques and art resources. I did not become a prolific etcher, but instead used the knowledge to illustrate many of the history booklets we have produced since then.
Beyond the obvious extent of his art production, Jack's legacy will endure in the quiet influence he had on many, including me.
