About the Book

Located near the midpoint of the South Carolina coastline, at the junction of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, Charleston was founded in 1670 and named after King Charles II of England. It is a lush city of sparkling beaches, vast marshes, historic homes and plantations, soft-rustling palmetto trees, and some of the finest food in the South. With forty-five recipes from famous restaurants, chefs, and caterers in this beautiful city Charleston Classic Desserts serves as a restaurant guide as well as a cookbook. Photographs, history, musings, and stories accompany the many award-winning recipes.

The list of contributing chefs reads like a “Who's Who” of the best of Charleston food. From Mike Lata's Carolina Gold Rice Pudding and Katie Gulla's Red Velvet Bread Pudding to Mitchell Crosby's Charleston Trifle, these recipes will certainly satisfy any sweet tooth and provide many delicious desserts!
