Reba Jones Beaver
Reba Sue Jones Beaver, formerly of 108 Peach Street, Chatham, died Sunday, January 25, 2004, at Riverside Health Care Center in Danville, where she had been a resident since November 2001.
Born December 3, 1916, in Dry Fork, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hannibal Jones and Carrie Sue Yeatts Jones.
She was married to John Lewis Beaver, who predeceased her in 1980.
She was a graduate of Pittsylvania High School in Chatham, and Averett College. She and her husband were long associated with Hargrave Military Academy and Chatham Jewelry.
She was a member of Watson Memorial United Methodist Church, the Maud Clement Garden Club, the Wednesday Club of Danville, and the Pittsylvania Historical Society.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Henry Mitchell, her grandchildren Sarah, David, and Jonathan Mitchell, all of Chatham; and her brother, Jake Oliver Jones of Land O' Lakes, Florida.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Roy Irving Jones and Fred Hannibal Jones.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, at Watson Memorial United Methodist Church in Chatham by the Rev. T. Todd Smith. A private interment at Hillcrest Burial Park followed.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chatham Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 365, Chatham, VA 24531-0365.
