The sixth grade class of Lila Wyatt Cox is seen during a Christmas party during December 1958. Note the Christmas tree at the front of the room, and wrapped gifts on the desks of the students. Mrs. Cox is seated at her desk at the far corner of the room. Several students can be identified. On the left, the girl facing the camera is Elaine Simmons. In the near left corner, the boy facing the camera is Jerry Lee Lewis. The pig-tailed girl immediately seated in front of Jerry, with her back to the camera, is Anna Ruth “Ruthye” Jones. In the right foreground, with his back to the camera, is Ronald Lee Cox. Two seats in front of him is Wesley Atkinson, facing the camera. In the center of the class, standing and facing the camera, is Leon Meadows. Partially obscured behind him, but also facing the camera, is Tommy Craddock. (Photo by J.T.W. Mitchell. His son Henry was seated just behind Jerry Lewis and thus is not visible in the photograph.)
