In 1921 the Radford Architectural Company of Chicago published a collection of scaled and measured drawings in the latest styles in domestic architecture for contractors, lumbar dealers, draftsmen, architects, country carpenters, and builders. The present volume carefully reproduces that now-rare book. Details for all types of residences — from frame and brick houses to homes of stucco and brick veneer — are included, as are plans for barns, silos, ice houses, and other farm structures.
Depicted in the residential plans are such attractive interior features as built-in buffets and sideboards for the dining room; cabinets, cases, and cupboards for the kitchen and pantry; wardrobes and linen closets for bedrooms; and window seats, fireplaces with decorative mantels, and built-in bookcases for the living room and library. For rural structures, drawings depict barn doors and roofs, corn cribs, a dairy stable, horse stalls, and more.
Today's builders and home restorers, owners of old houses, and lovers of fine buildings will prize these vintage illustrations — over 150 of them — from one of America's most creative architectural design companies.
